At AIR Institute, we are a large team spanning different areas of work to efficiently drive research and innovation in the technological field. As part of our celebration of International Women's Day, this year we present a series of blog posts to learn a little about some of our female colleagues who play a fundamental role in this national technology center.
We begin this series with Sheila Herrero, Head of the Administration and Purchasing Department, who trained in administration, finance, and business management; and has added to her professional skills knowledge in areas such as data protection, occupational risk prevention, rights and obligations in e-Government, and project management.

Sheila has been working with us for about three years. She joined on an internship and, after her excellent performance, became a permanent employee. After this period, she says that what she likes most about her job is the positive atmosphere and close-knit team, as well as the opportunity to participate in high-impact technological and innovative projects.
To mark International Women's Day, Sheila commented that "science advances best when everyone participates equally." Through her experience, she confirms that women's presence in research brings new perspectives and helps to study previously ignored topics, avoiding biases and enriching the results. "It's about equality and leveraging everyone's talent," she noted.
From her experience at the AIR Institute, Sheila highlights the opportunity to develop professionally in an innovative environment. "Through my work at this technology center, I participate in impactful projects that allow me to strengthen my skills, such as Salamanca Tech." She also emphasizes how working in a technological environment has helped her integrate artificial intelligence into her daily tasks, facilitating the adoption of more technological solutions, the optimization of processes, and a more innovative contribution to her work.
Sheila is part of the Administration, Logistics, and Purchasing team, and she works alongside other women who contribute to the proper functioning and organization of the AIR Institute. In this blog series, we will continue to tell you about the trajectory and role of women in our technology center who contribute to the development of projects and research with a real impact on society.
