Women in the Arts at the AIR Institute: Rebeca Rodríguez

To mark International Women’s Day, we continue to highlight the key role women play in science, technology and research through real-life stories such as that of Rebeca Rodríguez Domínguez, currently Communications and Outreach Coordinator.

Her career path is a clear example of how professional journeys are not always linear, but they are certainly enriching. Rebeca began by studying Law at the University of Salamanca, although she soon decided to switch to the creative field, moving to Madrid to train in Animation. She later complemented her profile with studies in marketing, which enabled her to enter the professional communications sector. After working for a company in the sector, she returned to Salamanca to join El Jap!.

Having been with the organisation for a year and a half, her role has evolved steadily, adapting to the team’s growth and the changing needs of the projects. She is currently responsible for social media management, media relations, website maintenance, the design of marketing materials, representing the project at events and in interviews, as well as video editing and 2D animation. This multidisciplinary profile reflects the importance of combining creativity and technology in innovative environments.

One of the aspects she values most about her work is precisely this capacity for change and continuous learning. The variety of tasks and constant evolution allow her to continue growing professionally and stay motivated, something essential in a sector undergoing constant transformation.

As for the role of women in science and technology, her view is clear and straightforward: there is no reason why they should not participate. A statement that highlights the need to continue moving towards more equal environments, where talent is the sole determining factor.
