Who creates Artificial Intelligence?
One important issue that businesses, institutions, organizations and professionals must pay attention to, regards contracting third parties for Artificial Intelligence (AI) processes. The question they must ask themselves is, do we really know who is doing the work we gave them? Kate Crawford, from the AI Now Institute, wrote about the “White Guy Problem” for the New York Times, in the article she argued that our long-lived need for large data sets is important for avoiding bias and social discrimination in the artificial intelligence mechanisms we create. Moreover, we can prevent it if the teams that develop artificial intelligence are culturally diverse.
Beyond the ethical criteria, with a multidisciplinary and integrative research team, we will achieve a greater quality of data which is crucial for avoiding inaccuracies in databases and adapting them to AI tasks, having quick access to existing solutions on the market, reducing research times and increasing precision in development.
Artificial Intelligence is one of the main lines of research of the AIR-Institute. Our team is characterised by its diversity and multidisciplinarity. If you would like to find out more about us, visit www.air-institute.org or follow us on social networking sites.
