Cyber threats in 2021
By 2021, Panda Security's cyber security specialists have highlighted an increase in potential threats to IoT and Cloud technology. They also express their concern about phishing and ransomware attacks.
Many companies have switched to teleworking, which has put them at risk. Panda Security highlights some of the new threats that have emerged and the threats that have now become more widespread:
1. Finance and e-commerce will be the main targets. Financial technology has seen the number of attacks increase by 238% during the crisis caused by COVID-19. Hackers are adapting to the new circumstances and so, online trading platforms should also adapt their security measures.
2. Ransomware and phishing will continue to be the most widely used strategies by cyber-crooks, generating a large part of the corporate security gaps. Their targets are small banks, e-commerce stores, mobile banking services and companies owned by banking groups, with attacks on the private sector being more common
3. The Internet of Things is becoming increasingly secure, however, the number of attacks on these systems is growing, something that will probably increase with the massive deployment of 5G.
4. The coronavirus has led to a huge increase in the use of the cloud by companies. Such rapid growth can cause poorly configured security systems making cloud systems vulnerable, so security training for these systems is essential.
5. The widespread use of 5G will facilitate the flow of information, which is a great advantage, but at the same time will create new threats. It is possible that there will be an increase in DDoS attacks that will generate new challenges for the protection of connected devices.
At Air Institute we work to ensure that the new systems have maximum security against future threats
