AIR Institute and BISITE present innovative projects at Salamaq 2023
The Salamaq Agricultural Fair is a leading agricultural event in Spain. This fair, taking place in Salamanca, brings together farmers, livestock breeders, companies, and professionals from the agricultural sector from all over the country. Researchers from the BISITE Research Group and the AIR Institute are participating as speakers at the fair to raise awareness of the role played by technologies such as blockchain, the internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence in the sector.
Innovation and agricultural technology
In addition to the exhibitions, Salamaq offers a wide range of side events and educational activities. These include conferences, technical lectures, livestock competitions and live demonstrations.
Attendees have the opportunity to learn about current trends in agriculture and livestock. BISITE Group and AIR Institute participate in Salamaq 2023 to present the latest developments in industry 5.0 and the advantages that these technologies bring to the agricultural sector.
As a sample of this, you can see some of the projects we are developing in traceability in the beef food chain, low power internet of things and artificial intelligence for the sustainability of processes in smart farming and other projects such as:
INNOBLOCKHAIN: IoT information through oracles and traceability using blockchain.
CHAINWINES: Traceability of wine using blockchain.
InTelWINE: Research into new techniques for precision viticulture and food safety that incorporate hybrid algorithms of artificial intelligence and deep reinforcement learning capable of standardising processes and transferring expert knowledge to a system that guarantees the quality of the wine that reaches the consumer.
On the second day of the agricultural fair, our colleague Raúl García once again presented several projects that we are developing in this field, with artificial intelligence and IoT based on recommendation systems, irrigation optimisation systems and sulphite reduction that offer a series of benefits at the economic and productive levels. Some of these projects are:
ALARAD: A multipurpose decision support system based on proximal and remote sensors. The project proposes a study of commercial solutions and selection of sensors that measure parameters such as climatic conditions, light levels, soil characteristics, presence of fertilisers and plant growth to improve crop quality and avoid losses.
IntelWines: Implements new artificial intelligence techniques to optimise irrigation in vineyards and reduce sulphite content in the winery. The aim is to transfer the knowledge of experts in these technologies to a system that guarantees the quality and healthiness of the wine that reaches the consumer.
