AIR Institute presents the Cajal and Artificial Intelligence Award at the Salamanca tribute to Ramón y Cajal
The City Council of Salamanca, the USAL and the UPSA, in collaboration with the Ramón Areces Foundation and the scientific endorsement of various entities, hosted a tribute to the figure of Santiago Ramón y Cajal on 10 April at the Teatro Liceo.
During the event , the role of the doctor and scientist as a university student and exemplary citizen was vindicated, with lectures delivered by a wide range of prominent personalities and experts, which served to promote the values of Ramón y Cajal. In addition, a series of prizes were awarded: Doctors Adolfo García-Sastre and Javier Bravo Cordero received the Cajal ZEISS Trajectory Award; researchers José Antonio Garrido Cárdenas and Juan González Fernández received the 1st Cajal and Parasitology Award; and bioinformatics analyst Enrique Vázquez de Luis received the Cajal and Artificial Intelligence Award presented by the AIR Institute. The work of different educational and occupational centres was also recognised.
The day was very enriching and emotional, with fascinating presentations that have helped to raise awareness and foster a culture of recognition for Santiago Ramón y Cajal, to promote the creation of the Cajal and Neuroscience Museum and to foster groups of scientists who are committed to his values.
The attendees will receive a certificate of attendance and a compilation book from the conference will soon be available in the History of Medicine series of Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca.
