AIR Institute participates in Big Data Alliance meeting and discussion

Yesterday, a meeting took place among the participants of the Big Data Alliance (BDA). An event in which we have participated in order to present the projects we are developing at AIR Institute and show what we can contribute to BDA, as well as to learn about the next steps to follow in the development of the alliance.

Juan Manuel Corchado Rodriguez, Director of AIR Instiute during the BDA meeting.

BDA is a collaborative space arising from the Horizon2020 MATRYCS project in which stakeholders will solve practical challenges related to the life cycle management of buildings by combining meaningful datasets and using data analytics.

We actively participated in the activity with the aim of identifying any similarities to other projects or institutions. In this regard, a discussion on data analytics capabilities and their expectations for future projects was raised. We also presented:

  • Datasets that can be accessed;
  • The capabilities of each partner to analyze and organize datasets from others;
  • Expectations regarding the BDA itself and partnerships for future projects.

Big Data Alliance is a great opportunity to concentrate the knowledge, and expertise of institutions and companies from diverse areas in order to use open datasets to drive projects related to smart buildings, energy or sustainable transportation.

The event also presented the work of the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca, the IoT Digital Innovation hub (partner DIGIS3), as well as the participation of other members of ICLEI, EURAC Research, La Salle Campus Barcelona, H2020 BEYOND project, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Plutinsus.
