AIR Institute presents its projects at the Expo 2020 Dubai and attends the Spain Entrepreneurial Nation Summit to establish new partnerships

Spanish institutions have had the opportunity to present the projects they are developing at the Expo 2020 Dubai, which held numerous forums, many of them dedicated to the transfer of knowledge and the development of public/private projects. The AIR Institute has participated in these forums, and this will surely give us greater visibility and will promote our research efforts.

We have presented some of our most important projects at the Australian pavilion, as part of an outstanding conference, organized by the Australian delegation, Justin McGowan, Commissioner General of Dubai Expo 2020 for Australia, and Ian Halliday, Consul General of Australia in Dubai.

At AIR Institute we specialize in the development of intelligent models in areas such as smart cities, connected industry, biotechnology, neuroscience, Fintech, Blockchain and IoT. Some of these projects are being carried out thanks to collaboration with institutions in the Middle East and with Spanish entities that have delegations in these countries.

Spain Entrepeneurial Nation Summit

Over the course of the past week, the Spain Pavilion also held the National Entrepreneurship Sessions which coincided with the week dedicated to Spain at Expo Dubai 2020; created to disseminate the essence and the cultural wealth of Spain to the attendees of this global event.

At this conference, the country's technological and innovative progress was showcased, in addition to providing a space for the promotion of sustainable development between European and Arab countries. The aim of this event has been to position Spain as a role model for entrepreneurs and start-ups from all over the world, as well as to encourage collaboration between countries and exchange initiatives.

Juan Manuel Corchado, professor at the University of Salamanca and director of the AIR Institute and the BISITE Research Group, attended this meeting and took this opportunity to meet with technology, energy and biotechnology companies, with whom he analyzed possible opportunities for collaboration. He also made the most of the Spanish pavilion's area dedicated to sustainability at the Expo 2020 Dubai, where he met with some of the agents who are developing projects related to sustainability. Finally, he met with Emirati partners to analyze the opportunities for collaboration on projects for disruptive technology implementation in Dubai's existing cities and those that are still being designed and built. The last day of the summit focused on R&D and knowledge transfer. These sessions were of special interest to both the BISITE Research Group and the AIR Institute; they helped reflect the work we do and were an excellent source of inspiration.

Undoubtedly, these sessions have been an excellent showcase of the science and innovation present in Spain. We are very lucky to belong to this ecosystem thanks to the work of the BISITE Research Group and the AIR Institute.

Expo 2020 Dubai, which is being held with some delay due to the pandemic, is a spectacular environment that will be transformed into a Business & Science Park after the event. The Spanish pavilion is sure to offer many opportunities to national companies and research centers, interested in operating in this part of the world. For now, we can only invite you to visit the Expo and our pavilion, they are worth seeing.
