Conference on cybersecurity for SMEs in the framework of the CIBERIA project

In an increasingly interconnected world, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have become the driving force of the economy. However, with this growing digitalization comes a concern: cybersecurity. Assessing vulnerabilities in SME systems becomes crucial to protect not only digital assets, but also business continuity.

In this regard, the conference on "Cybersecurity for SMEs: vulnerability assessment" organized by Cidaut, within the framework of the CIBERIA project, was held at the Science Park of the University of Salamanca. The aim of the conference was to offer a practical and realistic vision to SMEs, freelancers and entrepreneurs on the technologies that are available and those that are being developed to guarantee cybersecurity in their work environments, in order to protect both the relationship with clients and internal information.

The conference was inaugurated by the representatives of the Science Park, followed by the CIDAUT Foundation, who presented a paper on technological diagnostics and cybersecurity awareness, together with the members of the University of Salamanca.

Subsequently, some examples of application cases in real IoT environment were presented by the ARSOFT company, specialists in virtual and augmented reality oriented technology.

The event continued with the presentation of case studies on vulnerability assessment and analysis of the initial situation, by AIR Institute and CIDAUT Foundation. Starting with a brief point on the importance of cybersecurity and awareness among employees about safe online practices.

The attendees were also able to learn from the CIDAUT Foundation about the different financing and support programs for digital transformation projects to boost their companies.

The conference concluded with an interesting workshop on cybersecurity for companies. The training included important data on the current situation of cybersecurity, auditing processes, how to analyze existing hardware, software and security policies to assess their effectiveness.

Protecting the business network of SMEs goes beyond implementing security solutions. The constant assessment of vulnerabilities and adaptation to emerging threats are essential.
