The AIR Institute, together with the City Council and the University of Salamanca, inaugurate the Salamanca Tech Summit
From today, the Salamanca Tech Summit will be held at the Palacio de Congresos, located on Cuesta Oviedo Street in Salamanca. The event is being organised by the AIR Institute, together with the City Council and the University of Salamanca.
On Wednesday 26 June, participants will be welcomed by Mr. Carlos García Carbayo, Mayor of Salamanca, Dr. Juan Manuel Corchado, Rector of the University of Salamanca, and Mr. Carlos Martín Tobalina, Vice-Minister of Economy and Competitiveness of the Junta de Castilla y León.
Today's conference session begins with a speech by Javier Santaolalla Camino, Doctor in Physics and science communicator. Afterwards, Mikel Diez Parra, Quantum Global Enablement Lead at IBM Research, will give a talk on "bringing useful quantum computing to the world, and making the world quantum safe".
Other speakers at the conference will include Andy Jaffke, VP Teradata for Iberia, with a talk on "key objective for society: responsible and trustworthy AI", and Javier Martínez Borreguero, Global Director of Industry 4.0 at Telefónica Tech, with "the next industrial revolution: AI and 5G".
Over the remaining two days, other sessions related to data engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and blockchain will be held by companies such as Microsoft, DELL Technologies, Accenture and Deloitte, featuring the participation of Chema Alonso, Chief Digital Officer of Telefónica. In addition, there will be the launch of the company El Jap!, dedicated to video games and digital animation.

The event created by Salamanca Tech, together with the AIR Institute, the University of Salamanca and the Salamanca City Council, focuses on providing a space for exchanging research, transferring and disseminating knowledge, as well as creating a space for networking and training in the area of science and technology.
