IA4Birds transforms bird protection with cutting-edge technology - find out how we did it!
This short video provides a simple, quick and visual overview of the IA4Birds project's development of a smart, modular and scalable platform to monitor bird populations using audio-visual devices and hybrid artificial intelligence algorithms. This technology aims to prevent threats to birds by pre-analysing wind farm sites, thereby reducing high mortality from collisions with wind turbines.
Led by artificial intelligence experts from AIR Institute, IA4Birds works closely with the Spanish Ornithological Society, and other organisations, to obtain critical data on the presence and behaviour of birds in areas with potential for wind farm development.
One of the key technologies of the project is a high image quality camera, capable of capturing details at great distances, essential for effective bird tracking and monitoring. These devices, together with artificial intelligence algorithms, allow bird patterns and behaviours to be analysed, providing valuable information for decision making in wind farm planning.
IA4Birds
The IA4Birds project, developed by the AIR Institute, strives to ensure that renewable energy and wildlife conservation not only coexist, but are complementary and mutually reinforcing, demonstrating that technological development and environmental protection can work together.
