dAIEDGE celebrates a historic year and launches new initiatives for researchers in early 2025
In 2024, the AIR Institute, in collaboration with prominent European partners, achieved significant milestones that bring dAIEDGE closer to its goal of establishing the European Union as a global leader in data economy innovation and its applications.
Over the past 12 months, all dAIEDGE project partners have overcome challenges and achieved remarkable goals. Highlights include a webinar focused on Green Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Collaborative Artificial Intelligence, where industry leaders gathered to explore how to make AI safer, more sustainable, and more collaborative.
Undoubtedly, one of the most notable achievements for all dAIEDGE partners has been the launch of the project’s first Open Calls. This initiative has created new opportunities for collaboration among companies, researchers, and professionals, enabling them to present cutting-edge technological solutions that add real value to the European AI ecosystem. Thanks to collaboration with FundingBox, we also launched the Exchange Programme, allowing 10 researchers and PhD students to spend six months at DFKI, driving collaborative AI projects at the edge.
The response to these initial calls exceeded all expectations, with 146 applications from researchers worldwide, 36 of which were submitted as full proposals. Among the 21 participating countries, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Greece stood out, demonstrating the strength of Europe’s research community.
In addition to these accomplishments, we held two strategic meetings with all dAIEDGE partners, where we reviewed the progress in each work area and defined the roadmap for the months ahead. These meetings reflect the collaborative effort and commitment of everyone involved in making dAIEDGE a global reference in data economy innovation.
Building on this momentum, we are excited to announce the launch of the second Open Call on 10 January. We invite researchers, students, and key players in the AI ecosystem to seize this new opportunity to contribute to the development of edge-based artificial intelligence.
