AIR Institute Presents Exciting Projects at FITECU 2025 to Address Mental Health and Orthopaedic Conditions

The IFEZA exhibition centre in Zamora hosted the second edition of the International Fair on Innovation and Technology in Care Services (FITECU) from 20th to 22nd February, where the AIR Institute participated with a range of innovative proposals aimed at promoting the emotional and physical well-being of individuals with mental health and/or orthopaedic conditions.

Among the standout projects that captured the attention of most attendees was Apapachoa. At first, the visual appeal of the therapeutic dolls, made from natural materials such as cotton and wool, drew visitors to the stand. However, it was the demonstration of their functionalities and benefits for people with conditions such as autism, Alzheimer’s, and dementia that evoked expressions of tenderness and amazement.

People of all ages also stopped by to learn more about our Load Crutches project. In some cases, they even swapped their crutch to measure the pressure they were exerting on it—valuable data that can help assess reliance on this mobility aid and refine rehabilitation strategies.

Continuing with the theme of physical well-being, the AIR Institute also presented AIR-Care, a project focused on spinal posture hygiene. This promising initiative is particularly beneficial for individuals with spinal conditions, as well as for those in sedentary jobs where posture needs closer monitoring and correction.

Within this hub of innovation, technology, and collaboration, the dAIEDGE project also had a platform to showcase its advancements in Edge Computing, along with opportunities available for researchers to join its network through funding for projects in this field.

We were also joined by the European Digital Innovation Hub DIGIS3, which aimed to promote its free services among researchers and entrepreneurs. These services include technological consultancy and diagnostics for businesses and public entities, as well as support in securing investments and identifying new funding opportunities.

FITECU: A Hub for Innovation in Care Services

The International Fair on Innovation and Technology in Care Services (FITECU) seeks to establish a biennial platform for discussion and exchange on the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and care models adapted to the environmental, social, and emotional needs of society.

With this goal in mind, the second edition of FITECU brought together over 30 Spanish tech organisations, alongside the AIR Institute, including ARSOFT, Telefónica, CARTIF, IBERNEX, and Legrand Care. These companies showcased their latest innovations designed to enhance and humanise technology in care services, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals in need of assistance.
