El Jap! Encounters’ Return with Enrique Gato, Six-Time Goya Award Winner and Creator of Tadeo Jones

This Friday, 25 April, the International Hub for Video Games and Animation “El Jap!” welcomes Enrique Gato to Salamanca for a new edition of the ‘El Jap! Encounters’.

Enrique, an animator, director, and screenwriter from Valladolid, is best known as the creator of Tadeo Jones. His work as a director and creator has earned him six Goya Awards. In addition to his creative achievements, he is the founder of Lightbox Animation Studios—Spain’s most awarded animation production company—and the Lightbox Academy, a school for digital arts.

The session with Enrique will take place on 25 April at 6:30 PM at the Fonda Veracruz in Salamanca (C/Veracruz, 22-24). Admission is free and open to all until capacity is reached, with registration available via this link. As with previous sessions, attendees will have the chance to chat with him and ask questions during an event especially geared towards students and professionals in the animation industry.

These encounters are part of the activities organised by “El Jap!”, a project led by the AIR Institute and the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICECYL), an agency of the regional government. The aim of these sessions—part of ICECYL’s Wolaria accelerator—is to position the city as a hub of innovation and establish Castilla y León as a key player in the video games and animation industries, attracting talent and fostering the development of cutting-edge projects. The initiative is supported by industry experts, companies, and institutions such as the University of Salamanca and Salamanca City Council.

Registration for the event with Enrique Gato is available here. More information about training, project incubation funding, job opportunities, and upcoming activities offered by “El Jap!” can be found on their website.
