9 May - Europe day
Today, 9 May, we celebrate Europe Day, a day that commemorates peace, unity and cooperation between the countries of the continent. At AIR Institute, we would like to take this opportunity to proudly share some of the projects we are working on with partners across Europe, actively contributing to building a more sustainable, secure and technological future for all European citizens.
One of our most ambitious commitments is to the dAIEDGE project, a reliable, distributed and scalable network of excellence for AI at the edge. At a time when artificial intelligence is transforming all sectors, dAIEDGE seeks to position Europe as a world leader in this field.
At the AIR Institute we contribute to the development of several workpackages in collaboration with institutions and research centres across Europe.
In an increasingly connected world, securing devices and networks is essential. The CERTIFY project addresses this challenge through a holistic approach to the lifecycle security management of connected devices (IoT).
We work together with European partners to define methodological, technological and organisational frameworks to ensure the active security of these devices.
Through the SMURF project, we contribute to the implementation of the EU Forestry Strategy 2030, promoting sustainable forest management models and value chains for small forests.

Throught this project we will develop the architecture of a European cloud service that enables the use of computational and data storage resources from peripheral devices, as well as supercomputers, through the HPC (High-Performance Computing) network, and quantum computers.
GILL will develop a pan-European hub for collaboration and learning based on LL principles to become the open innovation framework for all European actors in gender-responsive open innovation. GILL will focus on four macro-objectives: a) driving organisational and cultural change, b) enhancing professional development, c) increasing gender and diversity mainstreaming in product design, technologies and innovation, and d) promoting gender-sensitive educational practices.
SOILL aims to establish and manage an effective, agile, transdisciplinary, diffuse, open and fair one-stop shop structure to coordinate, support, expand and promote the network of 100 Soil Health Living Labs and Lighthouses (SHLL/LH) funded under the framework. of the Soil Deal Mission and ensure its co-created user-centred, harmonized, reliable, impactful, replicable and sustainable leadership of the transition to healthy soils.
The WeForming project aims to change the paradigm of efficient energy management in buildings, paying special attention to its interaction with the energy ecosystem (energy networks and markets) through the development, deployment and demonstration of innovative solutions that address (i) the digital exploitation, management and maintenance and (ii) the efficient and interactive treatment of energy in buildings. Interactive Efficient Buildings with Intelligent Grids (Intelligent Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings – iGEB), capable of operating intelligently in a multi-energy, multi-user, multi-sector, multi-market and multi-objective environment, without forgetting quality, comfort, health and acceptance.
DIGIS3, Intelligent, Sustainable and Cohesive Digitalisation, is one of the 12 European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) approved by the European Commission as a benchmark in digital innovation. DIGIS3 has been promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León as part of its objective of digital and green transition of the regional economy, which is highly industrial, and where 99% of SMEs predominate over large companies.
