Salamanca hosted the fourth General Assembly of the international dAIEDGE project, with the University of Salamanca and the AIR Institute as key partners
Yesterday and today, the city of Salamanca became the European headquarters of technological innovation with the celebration of the fourth General Assembly of the dAIEDGE project. This project brings together a consortium of 36 entities from 15 countries, including universities, research centres, technology companies and associations, which are collaborating with a common goal: to propel Europe towards a position of leadership in artificial intelligence at the Edge, strengthening technological innovation, digital sovereignty and the transition towards a more competitive and sustainable economy.
Through innovation in next-generation artificial intelligence, dAIEDGE provides a virtual Edge AI laboratory and organises collaborative workshops that foster cooperation between experts and companies. The project has now opened its third and final call for funding, which will remain open until 14 October. In this edition, 10 projects will be selected, each receiving up to €60,000 and seven months of joint work with specialists from the German Research Centre for AI. The call is aimed at legal entities, either individually or in consortia of up to two members, including universities, SMEs and start-ups.
The Assembly took place at the Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca at the University of Salamanca, a historic venue that proved to be the perfect setting for an event of this nature. Both the University of Salamanca and the AIR Institute acted as hosts and key partners in the project, highlighting the city's ability to attract initiatives with enormous international impact. The choice of Salamanca as the venue is no coincidence, but rather recognition by the consortium of the growing role that both the academic institution and the local research ecosystem are playing in the field of technological innovation and digitalisation at an international level. Throughout these sessions, the members of the consortium will jointly analyse the progress made, share experiences and discuss the next steps needed to strengthen the continent's technological competitiveness. The project will also continue to focus on creating a dynamic and sustainable European ecosystem that will enable cutting-edge artificial intelligence to become an engine of economic growth and social transformation.
Salamanca's role as a technological hub will be further consolidated on Wednesday, 17 September, with the celebration of International Cooperation Day, an event that promotes international collaboration between experts, universities and leading institutions, in which dAIEDGE will be joined by the University of Salamanca.
