Certify held a notable cybersecurity event organised by the AIR Institute
Among the most recent activities of the Certify project was the workshop “From Code to Defence: Cybersecurity, IoT, and Ethical Hacking in Action”, organised by the AIR Institute with the participation of prominent speakers from both the business sector and social media.
Held at the headquarters of the technology centre in Salamanca, the event offered a varied programme of activities, including talks by cybersecurity specialists Javier Pastor, known for his Instagram project Hackaviss; and Marcos Hernán Gil, content creator on TikTok and YouTube under the username @marcoshernangil.
In his presentation, Javier Pastor highlighted the need to protect one’s online presence, both at a corporate and a personal level, pointing out the serious consequences that may arise from underestimating the importance of data exposure.
Meanwhile, Marcos Hernán Gil emphasised the importance of digital security in business transformation processes, drawing attention to data such as the fact that six out of ten SMEs affected by a cyberattack are forced to close within six months. This, he argued, demonstrates that security must be treated with seriousness and responsibility within companies.
The event concluded with the round table “IoT Cybersecurity in Europe: Bridging Innovation, Regulation, and Real Protection”, which also featured cybersecurity specialist Lázaro Daniel Rubio and sector expert Raúl Gonzalo. This session explored strategies that should be implemented across society, with particular emphasis on citizens. Participants also addressed questions concerning the need for certification of services through a trust seal ensuring compliance with European regulations on security and data protection.
Certify enters its final phase
The Certify project is now reaching its final phase, following two years of research into IoT solutions across the lifecycle of these devices in scenarios such as aircraft cabins, smart micro-factories, and the monitoring of artworks.
