Zamora Hosts the Expert Forum on Artificial Intelligence and the Sustainable Data Ecosystem
Zamora will host the Expert Forum “AI and the Sustainable Data Ecosystem” on 17 November, organised by the Zamora Smart Data Space Innovation Centre, in collaboration with the AIR Institute and GAIA-X Spain. The event will take place at the Palacio de la Alhóndiga Cultural Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with free registration. It is open to anyone interested in learning how artificial intelligence and data spaces are fostering digital transformation and promoting a more sustainable, secure and collaborative data economy.
The forum will provide a comprehensive overview of the role of AI, data spaces, distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and federated learning within a digital ecosystem founded on data sovereignty, interoperability and trust. Throughout the day, experts from various sectors will present real-world use cases, discuss ethical and technical challenges, and debate the impact of these technologies on innovation, business and society.
Key topics will include data spaces and their contribution to the digital economy, collaborative artificial intelligence and federated learning, interoperability standards promoted by initiatives such as GAIA-X and IDSA, and practical applications across sectors such as healthcare, industry and public administration. The discussions will also explore the evolution towards generative AI within an ethical and sustainable framework.
The programme will feature experts including Francisca Rubio (GAIA-X Spain), Ana Isabel Sánchez Iglesias (Zamora Provincial Council), Marian García Prieto (i4life R&D), Noelia García Barrio (Hospital 12 de Octubre), David Ayala (CTME), Robin Piñel Gago (SERBATIC Zamora), Miguel Sánchez Sánchez (COBADU), Jorge Lorenzo Fernández (TECOZAM), Julen Torralba Ajuriaguerra (CMTE Miranda de Ebro), Francisco Javier Díaz Rincón (Zamora Chamber of Commerce), José Manuel Martínez García and Álvaro Fanego Lobo (SCAYLE), and Jesús Ángel Román Gallego (University of Salamanca, Polytechnic School of Zamora).
In addition, there will be an open panel for companies wishing to share their projects or use cases related to data and artificial intelligence — an opportunity for participants to present their work to a wider audience.
This event will be a space for learning, inspiration and connection, bringing together researchers, businesses and citizens to share experiences on the responsible and sustainable use of AI and data, strengthening from Zamora a digital model grounded in ethics, collaboration and technological sovereignty.
