dAIEDGE and strengthening European leadership in Edge AI
The year 2025 has marked a turning point for dAIEDGE, consolidating it as one of the most relevant European Networks of Excellence in distributed artificial intelligence and Edge AI. From the AIR Institute, as one of the 36 partners in the consortium and leader of WP8 Communication and Dissemination, we have accompanied this process with the aim of maximising the impact, visibility and knowledge transfer generated by the project.
Throughout the year, dAIEDGE has demonstrated its ability to bring the community together, drive applied innovation and strengthen Europe's position in the development of efficient, reliable and scalable AI solutions at the Edge. One of the fundamental pillars has been the revitalisation of the ecosystem through Open Calls, which have attracted unprecedented interest. The calls launched in 2025 have mobilised hundreds of research teams, start-ups and SMEs from dozens of countries, confirming the relevance of the challenges posed and the strength of the support framework offered by the project. This high level of participation has not only expanded the talent base linked to dAIEDGE, but has also strengthened its international dimension.

At the same time, the project has made significant progress in building shared infrastructure and resources, notably the dAIEDGE-VLab. This platform has established itself as a key environment for evaluating, comparing and validating AI models in distributed scenarios, allowing the community to experiment with Edge technologies under criteria of performance, energy efficiency and trust.
Active participation in international events, technology forums and European coordination spaces has been another major driver of impact during 2025. dAIEDGE has been represented at scientific conferences, industry meetings and strategic workshops related to Edge AI, robotics, IoT, smart cities and high-performance computing. These participations have not only made it possible to disseminate results and use cases, but also to establish synergies with other European initiatives, networks of excellence and key players in the digital ecosystem. In this context, collaboration with other AI NoEs has been particularly important in aligning messages, sharing lessons learned and moving towards a common vision of European AI.
The project has also placed a strong emphasis on training and capacity building, with initiatives such as the dAIEDGE Summer School, which has brought together students, researchers and professionals in an intensive learning and networking environment. These actions reinforce one of the project's strategic objectives: to ensure that the knowledge generated is not limited to the academic sphere, but reaches new profiles and contributes to creating a group of experts in Edge AI in Europe.
From the WP8 perspective, 2025 has been a year of intense activity and maturity. The project's communication channels have been consolidated, with regular newsletters, a continuous presence on specialised platforms and an editorial strategy aligned with technical and innovation milestones. The coordination of messages, the amplification of results and the translation of technical language into narratives accessible to different audiences have been key elements in ensuring that the impact of dAIEDGE transcends the consortium itself.
The project has also strengthened its social and strategic dimension, addressing issues such as trust, sustainability, ethics and governance of AI at the Edge. Participation in events focused on smart cities and open dialogue sessions with the community has highlighted how the technologies developed at dAIEDGE can contribute to solving real challenges, while respecting principles of privacy, efficiency and responsibility.
Furthermore, to mark the significant progress made in 2025, the dAIEDGE project has released a promotional video showcasing all the advances made over the last year. You can access it by clicking here.
